Sushil John Soren, the 50 year old pastor of Bhirobkhund parish under Tezpur diocese, is currently undergoing treatment at Guwahati Neurological Research Centre. News: Pastor holding Vacation Bible School was arrested on charges of forced conversion. June 19, 2016. Haryana, India. Newsman reports that a pastor and his wife were arrested on charges of converting people for holding Vacation Bible School (VBS) for children. Pastor Sudhir Kumar and his wife were holding VBS in the place called Rampur Chudi in Panchkula, Haryana state while police stormed the class and asked Pastor Sudhir Kumar if he was converting the children. They said they received complaints from local people that he was engaged in converting the children. Based on the complaint, the Pastor and his wife taken into custody. Later they were released after giving written undertaking that they were only holding VBS for children and that they were not converting anyone.

News: Five Women are arrested for distributing Christian literature

June 16, 2016. Coimbatore. Five women are arrested today by the police in the town of Pollachi, near Coimbatore in Tamilnadu for distributing tracts and Christian literature. They were first attacked by a group of 20 men belonging to radical Hindu groups when they saw the women on the streets. Then the police was called. But instead of police arresting the attackers, ended up arresting Ms. Teresa, Ms. Innasi, Ms. Hepsi, Ms. Packiyam and Ms. Shanthi. The hearing for the bail is posted for the June 17th. Sajan K George, president of the Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC) told Asia News. Hindu extremists stone church in Alirajpur, Madhya Pradesh

Persecution India reports that a mob of 500 people led by the District President of the BJP, Rakesh Agarwal, threw stones at the Siyyon (Zion) Church in Jobat, Madhya Pradesh and attacked many women and children who were inside the church. The Hindu BJP leaders alleged that Nigam Raymond and his brother Nirmal Raymond had damaged saffron flags put up near the Church, for the Hindu festival of Ram navami. So, the police had already registered a case against the Raymond brothers based on the complaint. The case of under investigation. Rev. Hindu extremists announce campaign against Church and wants Christians tried for sedition

Hindu extremists in Satna, Madhya Pradesh, announced that they would carry out a campaign to stop Hindus from attending Sunday prayers at Churches because Pastors "trick them into conversion". Satna district has seen many incident in the recent past where Christians have been targeted, sometimes violently, by right wing groups. A week before the announcement, on April 27, members of a Hindu outfit called Bajrang Dal had stormed into a Church and forcibly stopped a Christian wedding alleging 'conversions'. Laxmi Yadav, a member of the Madhya Pradesh Backward Classes and Minority Welfare Department who enjoys the status equivalent to a junior minister in the government was present when the Bajrang Dal members stormed the church. Yadav, a member of BJP party later told the media, "This is the first case in the country when Christians were caught red-handed converting and marrying OBCs. We will reconvert them, purify them after sprinkling Gangajal and hold a Hindu marriage for the couple. I am seeking legal opinion on whether sedition charge could be invoked against the Christians for waging a war against the country."
